In a warm and cheerful atmosphere, the main road of Wishi and Marchena in the Marchena district was illuminated with holiday lights. Minister Sithree van Heydoorn and Patrick Newton, director of 2BAYS Curaçao, officially pressed the button to light up the neighborhood.
For years, residents of Wishi and Marchena have worked hard to decorate the main road of their community, which forms part of Schottegat West. After nearly a decade, the Christmas lights were once again renewed, bringing a positive impact to the neighborhood’s ambiance. This marked the third official lighting ceremony for the district’s Christmas decorations.
Patrick Newton, director of 2BAYS Curaçao, expressed that as part of its corporate responsibility, 2BAYS takes pride in giving back whenever possible to its good neighbors, the communities of Wishi and Marchena.
The lights serve a specific purpose: to create a festive atmosphere during social, cultural, and national activities. They are not limited to the end-of-year holiday season.
The illuminated display starts at Misa di Wishi and extends to the light pole at the entrance of Missouriweg, also known as Toko Funchal. The neighborhood residents reused the same installations from previous years while adding a few extra meters of decorations, creating a stunning bed of lights.
Community representatives Kenneth Valpoort and Sharlon Monte emphasized that this gesture is deeply appreciated and cherished by the residents of Wishi and Marchena.
