The Industrial Port of Curaçao comprises many areas. 2BAYS has approximately 250 hectares in the ports of Bullen Bay and Schottegat available for sustainable and industrial businesses. Who is 2BAYS?2BAYS is a government-owned company (NV) responsible for leasing out the port industrial sites in Schottegat and Bullen Bay.

Why did you change your name to 2BAYS?We see the global energy transition bringing tremendous opportunities to Curaçao. We have, therefore, designed a long-term strategy for developing sustainable value chains in the port's industrial area. Our previous name (Refineria di Kòrsou), which no longer reflects our mission, vision, and core activities, has been changed to 2BAYS. This refers to the two bays around which our activities as landlords are being developed.

Does 2BAYS invest in tenants?2BAYS's primary role is as a landlord, transforming our assets into a sustainable industrial port area. We do not actively invest in the companies leasing our land. However, we may be able to connect you with parties within the Industrial Port of Curaçao network who are active investors.

What is the future of the refinery?The global energy transition seeks to transform fossil-based economies into sustainable ones. Curaçao has a century of industrial experience in the Oil & Gas business. The global energy transition offers us a unique opportunity to advance into a sustainable future. While we are repurposing our facilities for the use of sustainable industries, our Oil & Gas assets will continue to operate for as long as required. This will be in line with the most recent industrial and environmental standards and regulations.

Will the refinery reopen and when will it reopen?The mandate of the government of Curaçao is to reopen the refinery. Presently, 2BAYS started the first phase of operation of the refinery with a 5-year contract to operate the asphalt train with Global Management Group. 2BAYS, at the same time, is in negotiation with Oryx Petroleum for a long-term lease contract for the management and operation of the refinery at Emmastad and the terminal in Bullen Bay. It is difficult to indicate a specific date for the start of the operations as negotiations with Oryx are still ongoing.

Will 2BAYS and the operators of the refinery abide to the environmental regulations?All the companies operating the installations owned by 2BAYS, must abide to the environmental laws and regulations of Curaçao.

What amount of labor force is needed to reactivate the refinery?The amount of fixed labor force and contracted employees working at the refinery will depend on the number of plants that will be activated in due time.
