2BAYS is pleased to have submitted the permit applications to operate the refinery in Emmastad and the terminal in Bullen Bay. This is part of its future plans and replaces the current permits, which expire on January 1. These applications align with the environmental measures required. The applications for both locations comply with the Environmental Permitting Policy (EPP) established by the Ministry of Public Health, Environment, and Nature (GMN). This approach incorporates regulations that meet the same standards as European and Dutch environmental laws. With this step, 2BAYS is making an important move, not only for the environment but also for the economic activities that are vital for Curaçao.

The submitted applications are now under evaluation by GMN's executive service. GMN is responsible for granting the permits and setting the applicable conditions. It is expected that the draft permits will be published and made available for consultation during March/April. At that point, there will be an opportunity to submit comments or observations. Both 2BAYS and GMN aim to engage in dialogue with stakeholders before the permits can be granted. For this reason, during the week of January 20, a public meeting will take place where 2BAYS will provide an explanation about the permit application, and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions. GMN will also provide further clarification on the permitting process and the next steps.

With these plans, 2BAYS aims to make a significant contribution to job creation and a sustainable future for Curaçao.
